Sky Research has an immediate opening for an intermediate level Electrical Engineer to work with our SkySAR synthetic aperture radar (SAR) development team. The candidate will be responsible for design and construction of subsystems for Sky Research’s airborne radar systems. The selected candidate will be part of a small, highly-specialized team based in Palo Alto, CA.
Sky Research is a full service airborne remote sensing and ground-based characterization company focused on environmental remediation projects including the assessment and characterization of formerly used defense sites and the detection of unexploded ordnance (UXO). For over 30 years Sky Research has provided aviation and sensor expertise for environmental and military characterization projects, supporting federal and commercial clients both domestically and internationally. Sky Research is focused on developing and transitioning advanced mapping capability to the production environment. Key application areas include the detection and characterization of unexploded ordnance (UXO), improvised explosive devices (IED), and landmines. Job Responsibilities:
The candidate will be involved in design, construction, and testing of electronic subsystems, including:
Control and interface hardware for airborne radar and other sensors,
Analog and digital circuit design,
Microcontroller and FPGA circuit design,
Interface circuits including embedded microcontrollers,
Construction of prototype hardware,
Cable and chassis design and construction,
PCB design and layout,
System documentation,
Project planning, documentation, and reporting.
Job Requirements:
BS (minimum) or MS (preferred) in Electrical Engineering.
At least 5-10 years experience with hardware and software design and construction.
Microcontroller and FPGA design experience.
High speed circuit design experience.
Well developed verbal and written communication skills.
Preparation of high quality technical specifications, manuals, and project reports.
Desirable:
Radar system design and testing.
Electronics fabrication, including chassis and cable construction.
RF design and testing experience is an asset.
Experience with C++, Java, and MATLAB.
US citizenship.
